Active Ingredient: Xylometazoline hydrochloride (typically 0.1% for adults, 0.05% for children).
Use: Rapid relief of nasal congestion due to colds, sinusitis, or allergies by shrinking swollen blood vessels in the nose.
Dosage:
Adults/Children 12+: 1 spray/drop per nostril 2–3 times daily (max 3 uses in 24hrs).
Children 6–12: Use 0.05% strength (follow pediatric dosing).
Avoid use beyond 3–5 days (risk of rebound congestion).
Form: Nasal spray or drops (200ml bottle).
Side Effects: Temporary burning, dryness, or sneezing. Overuse may worsen congestion.
Cautions:
Contraindicated in heart disease, hypertension, glaucoma, or thyroid disorders.
Not recommended for children under 6 years without medical advice.
Saline sprays (e.g., Sterimar) for non-medicated relief.
