📌 Therapeutic Class:
Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy (ACT)

 Active Ingredients (per blister pack):

  • Artesunate (50mg) – Fast-acting schizonticide

  • Amodiaquine (153mg base) – Long-acting blood schizonticide

🎯 Primary Indications:
✔️ Acute uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria
✔️ First-line treatment in malaria-endemic regions
✔️ Pediatric malaria (weight-based dosing)


Dosage & Administration

Standard 3-Day Regimen (Adults & Children >10kg):

  • Day 1: 4 tablets (single dose)

  • Day 2: 2 tablets

  • Day 3: 2 tablets

  • Total: 8 tablets per treatment course

Weight-Based Pediatric Dosing:

9-18kg 1 tablet
18-36kg 2 tablets

⚠️ Critical Contraindications:

  • 1st trimester pregnancy

  • Severe malaria (requires parenteral artesunate)

Patient Counseling

🛑 Discontinue if:
