Ulsanic Suspension 100ml

R 160.00

Ulsanic Suspension is an oral medication with the active ingredient sucralfate that is used to treat and provide relief from symptoms associated with peptic ulcers, chronic gastritis, reflux oesophagitis, and hyperacidity. It works by forming a protective barrier over the inflamed or ulcerated lining of the stomach and esophagus
Key Information
  • Active Ingredient: Each 5 mL of suspension contains 1 g of sucralfate.
  • Mechanism of Action: Sucralfate creates a protective film or barrier that covers damaged tissue in the stomach and small intestine, shielding it from further damage by acid, pepsin, and bile salts, thus allowing the ulcer to heal.
  • Indications:
    • Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers.
    • Relief of symptoms like epigastric pain, heartburn, indigestion, nausea, and vomiting associated with peptic ulceration.
    • Treatment of chronic gastritis and reflux oesophagitis.
    • Maintenance treatment after a successfully healed duodenal ulcer
  • Dosage and Administration
The standard adult dosage is typically taken on an empty stomach to ensure maximum effectiveness
  • Usual Adult Dosage (Ulcers/Gastritis): 5 mL (one medicine measure) of the suspension should be taken three or four times a day, between meals and at bedtime.
  • Reflux Oesophagitis: 5 mL of the suspension four times a day, between meals and at bedtime.
  • Important Note: Shake the bottle well before use. Allow at least a 2-hour gap between taking Ulsanic and other oral medications (e.g., certain antibiotics, thyroid medication, etc.) to prevent reduced absorption of the other drugs. If you are taking antacids, allow at least half an hour between the antacid and Ulsanic
  • Potential Side Effects and Warnings
Ulsanic Suspension is generally well-tolerated, but some side effects may occur
  • Common Side Effects: The most frequent side effect is constipation. Other less frequent side effects may include diarrhoea, nausea, dry mouth, gastric discomfort, dizziness, and drowsiness.
  • Warnings/Precautions:
    • Allergies: Do not use if you are allergic to sucralfate or any other ingredients.
    • Kidney Impairment: Use with caution in patients with kidney problems, as it contains aluminum, which can accumulate in the body.
    • Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Consult a healthcare provider before use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
